Precision Temp Installation question

I just ordered a rv500 for my 1958 FC. Previously it had a electric water heater so I am cutting a hole in the side of my trailer. Yes I would like to be able to afford one that vents thru the floor but the budget has already been blown away and I have to make cuts somewhere.

My question is should I cut the c channel and set the water heater directly on the floor? The benefit of this to me is I am building a bed above it and every inch counts. I would like the bed to sit as low as possible as there will be a bunk above it.

The concern is that the door will hang down below the rivet line. Purely cosmetic? Is the bottom of the door flush with the bottom of the water heater?

Any advice, opinions are welcome.

Thanks!
