My experience is for a home unit, not an RV...BUT
I hate mine.
We live in the country and have a well. Without going into to many details, this arrangement works very similar to an RV operating off the freshwater tank.
The on-demand heaters are very sensitive to flow rate and pressure.
My shower changes temperature as the pump switches on and off.
The change in temperature is more than the compensating valve in the shower can manage, so while I don't get scalded, I do get cool water as pressure drops and flow slows down, just before the pump cycles on.
I can't imagine they would work any better in an RV.
Regards,
JD

I installed a PrecisionTemp in my AS. Works fine on pump and city water.
Does need steady propane pressure. Ran low/out of gas and it did behave funny then.
Wife loves it....

I installed the Atwood tankless and when it worked it was great. Came back from our trip and installed a Truma. The best dang water heater i believe and works with little as .04 gal per minute

We installed a whole house on demand water heater. Probably the best mod we have made to the house. We looked at systems when we were building 12 years ago, but the technology was not reliable.

The only real consideration you need is whether you majority full hookup or boondock. Boondock, no real benefit and a waste of money. Full hookups and it's worth every penny. "endless" hot water being the key word.
Then if you decide its full hookups, spend the money and get the Truma, they have the best system out there.

We had it installed on our 2008 when we purchased it. We love it! We camped over Thanksgiving and I had a funky sinus thing going on. I stood under that hot shower for 20 minutes while it opened up my sinuses. Heaven!

Are you having trouble with your conventional water heater?
We have kept the original water heater in ours. It works great. We don't run it all the time, so we have to remember to switch it on about 5 min. before we get in the shower. If we're planning on using a LOT of hot water, we need to give a few extra minutes to get hot. But with a head start, our water heater has never run out. Then the water stays warm a LONG time after we shut it off. I'm sure our water heater uses far less propane than an instant water heater.
Best of all, it cost us $0000.00 to keep the original.

This topic has been brought up last week.
Truma tankless on demand water heaters are the ticket. They cost a bit more but are the best out there. Regular 6 gallon heaters blow because you run out of hot water. The next person has to wait to use the shower. Not with the Truma.
