Old Water heater replacement 1958 Flying Cloud

I have an old Vallaint Geyser gas demand water heater in my '58 Flying Cloud, that I would like to either rebuild/restore or replace. Any suggestions out there?

A client has two of them, and will most likely not end up using them. One came with the trailer, one I bought on ebay to get spare parts for the other one. I never got around to working on it, but it seems that all the parts were there. I can put you in touch with the owner through this forum.
If I was you, I would probably just replace it with a modern water heater. When I did explore the appliance, I saw little in the way of safety features. The question is do you want authenticity, or functionality.

Valliant Geyser

I prefer functionality. Can you recommend a more modern replacement. I have considered the Paloma PH6 On Demand Gas and Propane Paloma Tankless Water Heaters by Low Energy Systems It requires 1/2" lines and I have 1/4" copper. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The heater in your link works with natural gas only, no propane. The pricing on their other heaters would make me steer towards a Precision Temp RV500 if I was to use a instant water heater. If budget was priority, then a standard rv tank type water heater would be my first choice. typically, a 6gal water heater by Atwood or Suburban does a good job, and is an RV specific product. If you purchase a unit with DSI ( spark/no pilot) ignition, then you save energy and have the convenience of just flicking a switch and waiting for it to heat up ( usually about 10 minutes).

water heater

Thank's for the reply. This is very helpful. I am looking for a model that I can use without the need for a hookup. I like to park in remote spots. Most likely I will have to cut a hole in the outer skin to retrofit the unit in place.
