"New to us" '05 Safari water pump

Recently purchased a 2005 Safari Bunk. We tried to "boondock" in our driveway and the water pump won't come on. I checked the fuse and it seems to be fine. The venthood runs on the same fuse and it comes on fine. Its there anything else to try before pulling the pump out?

I'd turn on pump and run the pressure out of the water lines. Then go to pump and confirm I had 12 volts at the pump. If so I'd give it a tap or two and see if it starts.

If it has the 12 volts, has no pressure in the lines, and won't start I can't think of any other option but to replace the pump.

Do you have water in your white tank?

I should mark that switch OFF/ON side on my unit - Every time I use it I have to experiment to remember which position is which.

I think mine won't run for more than a second if the tank is dry. Of course the PO may have burned it up.

If there's water in the tank and the pump doesn't come on when you open a faucet, I'd look for a wire loose on the pump, then determine if it's jammed or burned out.

Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present.

Hi, I have no idea why they didn't put a light , or mark the switch so we can tell if it is on or not; When the other two switches are in the on position, this switch is off? Future project, add a light or something.

If you need a new pump (I hope you don't), you might want to try one of the "new" (in the past year) Shurflo "Revolution" pumps, I put one in this summer. Works great and it's rather quiet. Doesn't hammer like my old pump and it's quieter than the Shurflo that was in my Jayco.

If the inline filter is overtightened the pump won't work. Mine did the same thing and I was loosening filter to bleed it, and as soon as I loosened it the pump started running. Never had another prob from it.
