New Atwood tankless water heater

Just got confirmation that one is being shipped to me after I already cancelled the order. Has anyone been wanting one? I paid 715.00 for it. I installed a precision temp last week Nd have no use for this one.

I'm interested to see someone use one and write a review.

Lewster, I believe, (it was an old thread) has been waiting patiently through several release delays.

I asked my supply house just yesterday about the heater... "indefinite out date" was the response. I think he wanted to say "not going to happen"...

The item shipped, I have a tracking number, but strangely it shipped to PA, not CA. Sooooo, something's up. I think it may have shipped to the rv place instead. They don't seem to have it together.

tankless hot water heater

Anyone interested might want to check our Marey tankless, on-demand, hot water heaters. Very reasonably priced, several models, also on eBay. I am ordering one.

Did the Atwood tankless arrive? I checked my wholesaler Friday and was told "indefinite production delay" I am curious if you ever got yours. My salesman was shocked to hear a private person was having one shipped out already.

The Marey unit is not approved for RV or Marine use.

Marey tankless

I spoke with a company rep who assured me that the Marey 5L unit IS approved for RV use.

I have been researching replacements for my original '69 Bowen, but was looking at the Atwood dual fuel sort of traditional style water heater. I have nott been able to find a tankless, on-demand Atwood. Is this the Atwood GEH9-EXT, with a heat exchanger?

I followed the tracking number and watched the "item" be shipped to some other location then my home. They issues a credit to my card and had no good answers as to what was shipped from Atwood or whom it was delivered to.

So there is no water heater.

AFAIK, there are only 3 companies currently approved for tankless RV use by the RVIA.

•Aqua-Hot Heating Systems, Inc.
•Precision Temp
•Girard Products

If the Marey rep says it is approved, ask for a copy of the certificates as to when and by whom the approval was done. A salesman's word is basically worth the breath it is spoken with!

I looked at those one time on Ebay but they require a 4" vent straight through the roof and some way of getting air intake. I suppose you could mount one in an RV if you wanted to do the modifications and cut another hole in the roof of the camper...? It would probably be great for a cabin.
But, I think this video is what they mean when they say "great for campers and RVs"

The ISO 9001 certification that they tout is meaningless in the RV business! It might be great for domestic use, but NOT in an RV.

Wow... did you check out Wikipedia for what ISO9001 is? It has nothing to do with RV standards... it's is a management quality control system... You can have a crappy product but great management processes and be ISO9001 certified.

Marey Tankless

The Marey 5L is a small, flat, light weight unit, 17" x 11.4" x 4.7" weighing 12 lbs. which can be vented from the side (3 " cut out). I am installing it in my 1954 Safari on the bathroom wall next to the sink. It includes a light shower hose with shower head (works only when button depressed). Desired temperature can be dialed on front control. A "T" fitting can be installed for both sinks.
I will report back with a review after I've had a chance to use it a while. Right now, I've just finished replacing the rotted portion, 35%, of plywood floor. AFter troweling on floor leveler, I plan to install vinyl tile squares (commercial) and put everything back after replacing bad panels of wood in dinette seats, partition walls, beds. Still have plumbing, black water tank, LP gas lines to go.

Make sure you keep a window cracked when you use it. I don't want to read about you in the papers.

It is very frustrating... I ask my salesman at the wholesaler every time I call in an order and he actually calls Atwood while I wait on hold. I was once told that a supplier sent defective parts and another sent inferior quality materials. I guess they want to just get it right before they launch. In the mean time I will keep installing the PT RV500. They work VERY well and all the customers I install them for are very happy with the way they perform. The down side is the opening size. It is narrower and taller than a standard Atwood. I have found by making a patch the same size as the door hides any alterations. Oh, yeah, the door... it comes unpainted in aluminum and polishes like a mirror.

I had an electric previously. So I was able to cut an exact opening. I hooked up the water lines and am running the gas lines this weekend.

Do you have any tips on polishing the door? Just worried about messing up the louvers.
