Need Water Heater Repl Photos

I've read many threads and have not yet found what I need.

I'm replacing the old original Bowen 32 year old 10 gallon propane water heater and I'm replacing it with he Atwood 10 gal propane heater. I understand that the Atwood fits the hole pretty well, except that I will have to modify the blue trim strip at the botton to accommodate the new heater door.

What I need is photos of the removal process and the new installation and any tips that might make it easier. I have a 76 Sovereign International.

Any one with posted photos or a thread reference?

I am most of the way done with the same thing, but I had the side body panel the water heater opens thru removed because it was also being replaced, and the bedroom wall too. As far as I remember, I only had to remove the water in and water out connections from inside the bathroom next to the toilet. After that it was just screws & rivets and caulk holding it in from the outside. A heater vent / box thing that is supposed to keep the water heater warm rests on top of it, but I don't remember it being attached.

I have not hooked propane or electricity to the new one yet, and I am gonna have to redo (or maybe just re-bend if I am lucky) the water lines because the bathroom does not want to fit back together the way they are.

Even though I have the same trailer and did teh same replacement, my procedure was probably quite different because I have so much else taken apart. That said here are some pics from removal day WebForm1

My new Atwood 10 gal water heater arrived with some minor damage.....bent door and slightly bent front frame......not packed well. The front outside mounting flange is shipped bent at about a 45 degree angle. It must be bent to a 90 degree angle to work....the manual reminds you of this. I found that the easiest way to do this is to insert an ice pick like tool, or simular, in the screw holes, from the back and gradually bend the flange to a 90 degree angle.

Flexible couplings for hot and cold connects and also for the propane connection seem to be the way to go.

Did they say the power connection to the heater is AC? does that mean the electric ignition wont work unless you are hooked up or is that a dual power unit? Or both?

My Atwood water heater plugs in to a 120v AC outlet for electric mode water heating. It also attaches to my 12V DC bathroom light bulb circuit, I am assuming for electric ignition of propane and for the lockout light (although I have never tried using propane mode).

120v AC powers the element,12vDC powers the ignition.
