Loud water pump quiets down

While camping this last weekend, we noticed that our normally "quiet"--if you can call it that--water pump suddenly sounded like a jackhammer. This continued for about 1 day, with the pump reverting back to its "normal" sound. Anyone else have this happen? Is it a symptom of worse things to come? I figure there was something lodged in the pump that finally worked itself free, but that's just a guess.

It's happened to us a few times, not for a whole day though, after running low, the pump lost it's prime and it took awhile to get back to "normal".

This happens when air gets in the lines. The only immediate cure that I know is to run each faucet until the air escapes. Usually I only have to run the kitchen faucet. I guess the air is in that line. I think you can induce this by opening more that one faucet when the pump is off. Or open one faucet and flush the toilet when faucet is off.

Ken
