Keep your tank!

Good Morning America.
it's a little bit tiring to think that as you all looked forward to bed I was rising at 6am and getting it on for another day. At least I was until a hissing and spurting disturbed my first cup of "Rosie lea".
Being an engineer in another life I was practicing good planned maintenance when I replaced my water heater a couple of years ago. The first had lasted over 20 years(I think) so I looked forward trouble free.
Imagine my disappointment to discover that some welder at Atwood had bodged his supply fitting, burning through the tank with the business end of a brazing torch, and concealed his crime with goodness knows what. Sh*t happens!
The moral of the story is: I will never again stare at the detritus of my workshop and tell myself that I really ought to tidy up and throw out.
I kept the tank from the one removed and I'm pressing it back into service.
Cue little dance!!! Lol!

Old parts save the lives of new stuff all the time. Clutter is good, neatness is bad! Jim

Yep. As soon as I throw it away, I need it.

Or buy a replacement piece and find the one you misplaced...

Result!

After a bit if fabrication - I wouldn't lie about that - plumbing and head-scratching on the electrical bits, I am back on with hot water. She seems to run a bit hotter but the stat is cutting in and restarting when I run the water. A good day's work!
