Probably the best explanation of the possible root cause. Makes sense on the timing. We don't get pump runs with our tankless HW heater, but did with the old Atwood 6 gallon...

I reject your theory, and once again advance mine... We need to convene The Committee for the Advancement of Water Pump Cycling Possibilities and settle this thing the right way, with a heated round of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. Expanding air in a water heater... Preposterous! It's the check valve, by cracky.

Oh sure, take the easy way...

-Red, still ornery...

Most campgrounds, actually every campground, that we have been to in The LoveStream has had water hookups, so the pump is off anyways. When we camp it in the yard, I'll leave it on all night, but turn it off when we're away from the trailer.

I'm a bit of a light sleeper, and odd machinery noises wake me right up, as well as sudden silence. It's an ex-Navy thing I've never outgrown. So I tend to set stuff into a known safe state if I can. Shutting off water pump and water heater (before we went tankless) is normal procedure. Since we usually camp connected, it's not an issue.

Rich, for whom running water wakes me right up, and I run towards the sound to investigate.

I'm so twitchy at change in noise levels when I sleep, that I have to run a fan, or the A/C unit, or some kind of set background noise. Otherwise EVERY little noise wakes me up...

I was just picking a little, because I found it humorous that this thread went from "Why does my pump kick on once every six hours" to "Whether or not I should leave my pump on"... Not the greatest thread transmogrification, but a good one none the less!
