Mine twists off though it can be stubborn. I can't remember if you have to raise or lower it over a tab to remove it. Last time I took it off it was a bit of a struggle, but I finally got it.

There should be instructions with the package of stuff the dealer gives you, but they do leave stuff out.

This is not much help, but the filter in my 2010 is not the same as the one in the manual. I got my off without much trouble though. Unfortunately the trailer is in storage so I can't look. I believe I found the manual for the filter on Moen's web site. I will look through the manuals and see if I find it.

I found the manual. It is for the Moen ChoiceFlo 9500/9600.
You unscrew it normally, but then you need to tug down pretty hard as there is an o-ring that must be overcome. My wife got the manuals for the bathroom and kitchen faucets and the filter by calling Moen customer service. They also sent a free repair kit for our bathroom faucet, because it was leaking. Good luck with it.

Should turn clockwise to remove it. When you reinstall it coat the O rings with silicone plumbers grease to make removal easier the next time.
Don't use Vaseline as a replacement....
