How does this water pump work??

Can anyone explain how the fresh water pump is supposed tp work. I have never used it because my fresh water tank was leaking when I bought the trailer. I just replaced the tank and tried it out. I have two switches for the pump. One is in the bathroom and the other is on the main control panel. I turned on the fresh water but no water unless I manually turned the switch on. Shouldnt this be automatic? It would be a pain in the butt to have to manually turn the swith on every time you need water. Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks....

With our water pump, you turn the switch on and leave it on. If you are going to be using the tank alot don't forget to fill the water heater first or you will use 10 gallons of you water right away. Once the pump has brought the system up to pressure it should shut off and not start back up until a faucet is opened. If it comes on before that you have a leak somewhere in the system. I like the idea of two swithches, we only have one in the kitchen. We will turn ours off when we aren't going to be using it for a period of time, just as a precaution.
