Hot water tank drain.

I had given up months ago trying to locate a drain for my Bowen HW tank in my '66 Tradewind. I am now replacing my black tank and replacing the floor under the rear bath toilet from underneath. After removing the old floor up to the HW tank I found the tank drain in the most rediculous place. It is on the back of the tank (inside to the trailer) with absolutelty no access unless you cut out the floor or cut into the bathroom cabinet,,,,then there is no exit for the water to drain. Now some off you must have the same wierd configuration. How do you drain the tank? I am thinking with the floor out I may attach a drain line and run it to underneath the trailer and a valve. Is this a solution? What have you done?
Thanks,
Neil.
