Hot water on the cold side.

I am getting hot water on the cold side. I replaced the by pass valve, I still have a problem. I'm thinking the cartridge in the shower or sink since they are single lever. Any help would be appreciated!

I would concentrate on the by pass valve and it's plumbing.

If it is an after market 3 valve system I would assume the center valve is not in the off position. Does it run hot for more than a few seconds a any faucet? If it is a short duration effect and the center valve is open that may just be migration through that valve.

I replaced the by pass valve with a shark ball valve fitting. It is a three valve system, but it shows it in my airstream manual. I don't think it's after market.

Are you sure the hot water heater is reaching full temperature before shutting off. A weak high limit switch would keep it from reaching full temperature. That is the thermostat. I would confirm the heater is reaching the limit setting before going further. Use an infrared thermometer and compare yours with someone else's heater.

Replacing the ball valves one for one should not cause any problem.

Modern shower valves may have a limit setting so kids can not burn themselves if left alone.

Chances are the problem is caused by cross flow. Probably the shower cartridge, but could also be the one on the sink faucet.

Make sure the outside shower valves are closed.

Depends on the faucet, it could be the problem, mine can be changed from hot to cold on left or right depending on how it is put back together.
