Water heater

I have the same issue with my 2018 25ft Flying Cloud. After using for just 6 times, it stopped igniting on gas. It works on electric. Taking it back to dealer for repair

Follow up on my water heater issue:

Thanks to the Airforums participants I was able to diagnose the issue as a bad striker board.

We took our 2018 25FBQ Serenity by Airstream of Utah yesterday after making an appointment with Taylor in the service department. They were ready for us and we didn't even have to disconnect the trailer. We were back on the road in 15 minutes. Now we have a fully functional water heater again. Outstanding!

Airstream of Utah took great care of us even though we purchased our Airstream from Chilhowee, Tennessee (close to our home in north Georgia ).

THANKS AIRSTREAM OF UTAH! They are a first rate organization.

And thanks to everyone for the advice and support!

I found a spider web in the “gas tube” that completely blocked the propane flow. This obstruction was four inches inside from the orifice. The web was silver in color making it almost invisible. Either try a high pressure air nozzle to blow the obstruction through or remove the manifold tube on visually inspect it. Also verify the gas orafice is not obstructed

Replaced the stock Dometic water heaters in both our 2014 31' Classic and and our 2015 23D International Serenity with the German Truma Aqua Go comfort instant on water heaters that are propane only. Have been very happy with the results and loose the weight and expense of keeping six gallons of water hot all of the time.

Replaced the stock Dometic refrigerators in both trailers with Italian marine Vitrifrigo refrigerator/freezers that have a 12Vdc freon based compressor. We have 900 watts of solar on the roof of the Classic and a 600 amp-hour lithium battery while the 23D has 500 watts of solar on the roof and a 300 amp-hour lithium battery. So the 56 watts of 12 Vdc power when the compressor is running is not an issues even when boon docking.

There are other alternatives to replacing cheap bad parts with more of the same design and repeating time after time.

We have a 2018 airstream sport that we purchased in April. We’ve had 3 outings and each time the board goes out to our water heater. After replacing 3 times under warranty we are going to See if we can get approval from airstream to get a dinosaur board or a new water heater because something is obviously wrong with the Atwood. It has been a frustrating experience so far!

For what it's worth, here's a tip about another possible reason for failure to ignite: a failed thermal cutoff device. This tiny part is easy to overlook, but it will stop your water heater from lighting up even if everything else is fine. It's a twenty-dollar part if you buy it at an RV store, but the article shows where you can get it for two bucks and change from an electronics supplier.
