Can we use a well pump?

We have our AS parked on our land in the mountains, as it serves as our cabin... we have a cistern that holds our washing water and have been using a transfer pump for supplying running water in the camper... it works but we have to manually switchit on and off when needed. we thought of getting an on demand pump but our holding tank isn't hooked up for some mysterious reason(1970 camper with a past) We have a used well pump that we thought of using instead... any thoughts, words of wisdom are all welcome!!

If you used the well pump with a pressure tank and pressure switch, it would be the same as any other water system. But I wouldn't just hook up the pump directly with a manual switch unless you can be certain that it can't deliver more than 50psi.

You can use a regular demand only rv water pump to run water out of your cistern into your trailer assuming the cistern is on the same level as your trailer. Just hook up a line from the cistern into the inlet side of your pump and hook the outlet side to your city water inlet.
Much cheaper than well type pump and pressure tank. The latter system creates too much pressure for your Airstream and you would have to use a pressure reducer.

Thank you !! What would be the best on demand pump? The cistern is at ground level and we keep the transfer pump in the back hatch of the camper. It seems to get very hot in the summer or freezes in winter. We are trying to keep the maintanence to a minimum since we live there part time...

Use the same or similar Sureflow pump that is in your trailer. It is a demand pump because it runs only when necessary to pressurize the system.
In the winter you will have to winterize by draining the whole system including everything in the interior of your trailer.
There are lots of threads on this forum about winterizing your trailer.
