Question Bowen water heater problem, anyone know what to look at?

Hi there, I have a Bowen water heater (not the original likely about 10 years newer) in my 62 overlander. The pilot lights and stays lit, the burner comes on and stays on for 4-6 minutes then the whole thing shuts off -pilot and burner. The water heater never gets to temp. The heater is full of water, Anyone know what to look at??

It may just need a good cleaning..

Sounds like what ours did...after taking it out & cleaning all the soot & dead bug parts, it worked fine. If that doesn't do the trick it's probably the thermocoupler.

The thermostat may be defective. Try dialing the thermostat way up to see if it stays on longer. Mine is a red dial on the control. The ' puffing- out ' problem is probably due to a weak pilot - a separate problem from the first.
If that doesn't work you probably need a new control.

Smile All fixed!!

Thanks everyone, I removed the burner with thermocouple and pilot assembly. Cleaned and re-installed it . It works like a charm now.
