Bowen water heater

Hey all,
I'm new to this. I just bought a 76 Sovereign 31 ft. trailer and love it!! Although it needs alot of work to it. I am trying to fix the water heater, but the gas valve/thermostat is not coming out of the tank. Are the treads on the old units reverse? or are they standard?

Hello 76 sovereign,

that bowen control unit probably is corroded into the threads in the tank.
The controller unscrews counterclockwise as stated by Janet.It may take a big wrench to get it off .If you do ,try to get a look inside,ours on our 60
trdwnd was full of corrosion .I replaced it with a suburban ten gallon.
Many like the atwoods also .

Thanks for the heads up! althought I did have to get my torch out, I did get it out.
