Bowen Pressure relief valve

Anyone know where I can get a replacement for the pressure relief valve. Mine is shot.

I went to a regular plumbing supply store and the guy sucked his teeth, ummed a little, aaahed a lot then said, nah, that's a half inch, we're not even allowed to sell them anymore.

I currently have it blanked off just so I can use the cold water system.

Relief valve

These valves are commonly known as
T&P valves. The true name is temperature and pressure valve. With a couple of fittings a 3/4 inch valve can be connected. There is not any need to connect any piping to discharge of valve.
Home Depot is a good source.....
How did ya determine valve was defective?? If it just leaks, it maybe just filled with hard water. Remove from water heater and place in container of lime away.......Reinstall and test for leaks. The seat in these valves is brass and hard to wear out.....

The flat plate that sits right at the end of the valve, I think it's plastic, has blown out of the body.

Bowen is now owned by Atwood Mobile Products.

The Plumbing Supplier was probably right about selling 1/2" per your local code restrictions, which apply to city building guidelines. Those valves are sized for 30, 40, 50... gallon water tanks.

Any good RV supply store should be able to provide you with a 1/2" bronze temperature and pressure relief replacement valve.
It is Atwood part # 91604. If not here is one link to one.

I have Edited my post to add the following:
Remember, this is a safety device. The idea is to keep scalding water at explosive levels from spraying on you and your loved ones should the pressures and temperatures build to a dangerous level. And it does happen. Work arounds are not advised. Use the proper part. Also believe it or not an inactive water heater with water left in it, within only a few weeks, have a Hydrogen build up in the tank. You should always test the valve before lighting the burner or if electric, before plugging in to shore. It only takes a second to test but saves a lifetime of disfigurement.

Usea 3/4 Valve and a close nipple and a bell reducer. The issue is vol. if the valve lifts. Do at you own risk.
