Bench Testing a water heater.

Greetings fellow Streamers. I've recently acquired a new/used Atwood g6a-7 and would like to bench test it before installing it. I'm not sure whether or not to fill the tank only, or connect it to flowing water supply. All I want to do is fire it up to make sure all components are functioning properly.

Hook up to gas and electric 120VAC and 12VDC.... Outside where you can use a fire extinguisher an not damage things too bad.

I would hook to a garden hose to get flow. The outlet put on a hose and valve and just raise above heater to keep water away from exterior.

Fill with water. Release air at top of tank thru the pressure relief valve.

Now shut off outlet and let water pressure stabilize.

Now turn on electric and wait to see if it warms. Next see if you can fire up the gas part...

Thx cwf. That's what I thought. Just wanted to be sure without rupturing the tank.
