Atwood Gas/Elect hot water heater - Electrical problem with

Atwood 6 gallon Gas/electric hot water heater - electrical problem.

We have a 2006 Classic. We have a 6 gallon Atwood LP gas/electric water heater. Recently the LP gas wouldn’t light, but the electric did. At that point we were using the electric and during use the red light indicator lit up and then the electric wouldn’t work after shutting it down and waiting. After testing it was determined that the ECO was bad. After replacing the thermostat and ECO the gas works, but the electric doesn’t. Breakers look fine. Any idea what might need replacing?

Thanks.

Not sure if your model has this arrangement:

• You might have a relay positioned on the hot wire coming from your on/off switch to the rear of the water heater that actually activates the path for the 120VAC to enter the heating element. This is located in the rear of the unit inside a black plastic box. The relay might be bad or the epoxy-potted control board in the top right corner at the front of the unit might be bad.

• You also might have a mild corrosion issue with the 2 flat plugs that are attached to the control board. Try pulling them off and replacing them a few times. This might remove any corrosion that is preventing the signal from the switch to the board or board to the relay from reaching their destinations.

• The tech might have loosened a wire during the t/stat•ECO replacement that is causing the problem

• You also might simply have a bad electric heating element

Any competent RV tech should be able to diagnose the problem and offer a quick solution.

Our Atwood's 110VAC is on a circuit breaker in the main breaker panel, AND a switch at the water heater in its own box on the back of the water heater inside of the trailer, WITH a separate breaker switch at the top of that same box at the back of the water heater (this one has a button that pops out when it's not happy - push the button to click reset).
