Anyone had trouble with "XT" water heater?

The water heater in this new Insanity, I mean, Serenity, has begun making an annoying "clicking" noise, whenever a faucet is opened, and the electric heating element is in use. (No noise present when operating on propane only). I've decided that the "mixing valve" is probably the culprit. It's conveniently located on the back of the tank, of course. Has anyone experienced this?
