'76 Sovereign Water Pump Runs ALL THE TIME

Finally got all the leaks stopped in our 76 and tried the water pump. Unit was stored with full water tank for two years. When switch is turned on it runs and keeps on running.
In a Minnie Winnie we had (87 model) the pump ran, built up pressure and cut off.
With this one I don't know which is correct. Water pressure is not the greatest but with no experience with AS prior to this I don't know what to really expect.

Good news is the water tank holds water ! ! ! ! haha.
Thanks guys.

Sounds like there is an air leak somewhere in the line. Another possibility is a the pump diaphragm is leaking and the check valve could be bad. Pump and check valve are under the sink if it is laid out like my 1975.

I take it that it is supposed to pressure up and stop till the pressure drops off to a certain poundage like on the Minnie Winnie I had.
Is this as rebuildable pump or a trash and carry replacement deal?
I have had outside pressure run to it all afternoon and no more leaks I can find anyhow.
Is there a good pump that will replace it for a upgrade?

What do such run?

Water pump

I recently replaced the old pump in our 31 ft airstream with a new sure flow and found it to be an excellent choice . Easy to install and works really well. Much mor peaceful in the trailer now.
It cost me $135.00 with our 13% Ontario tax so they are not very expensive but as I was replacing a 20 year old pump by the same company I think they last well.
Hope this info is helpful and good luck with the repairs. I had a few leaks in mine too.

Jim

Hummer,

I'm with silvertube65: put in a new pump. The old ones are noisy, and if your fresh water tank was left full for two years, I would also read some of the cleaning hints that are found in the results of this search here.

Just noticed: everyone in this thread so far is a '70s Sovereign owner! Here's to all of us long tubes!
