2 filter water system

i have what i think is a simple question but couldn't find any info on 2 filter water systems in other threads (or using the search feature).

i want to use 2 filters in my water system.

the first would be a filter near the city water inlet (inside the trailer) that would filter all water coming into the trailer.

the second filter would be to filter drinking water located at the sink, like an everpure or something like that.

i'm looking for recommendations on filters for both locations.

I have a whole house water filter on my incoming hose. This works as long as it is above freezing. When it dips below freezing I switch to my heat tape wrapped pipe insulated hose. When it is that cold I do not worry about taste.
My faucet has a built in filter. I can switch between filtered and double filtered.

I replaced the original water filter in my Excella with a GE unit from Home Depot. It’s good looking, and replacement filters are a snap to locate. It even comes with a battery.

Ok, the battery is for an internal clock that flashed a LED on the unit at 6 months to remind you to replace the filter. Since I’m single and use it mostly for ice cubes, I figure I’m good for twice that. When it started flashing this month, I just pulled out the battery, one of those watch batteries, and replaced it to reset the timer.

I don’t worry about filtering the rest of the water.

Attached you will find the 3 filter system I use with my '86 Sovereign. The first two pictures are the same but different lighting. The single filter on the left, purchased from RVwebstore.com, Water & Power Outfitters, holds a SED 5 filter and filters sediment down to 5 microns. It allows a flow rate of 3-4 gpm. The filter is made of spun polypropylene. I attach an adjustable Watts water regulator to the campground faucet, attach a 4 ft. hose to it and then to this filter which sits in a metal cradle sold by Camping World. I then run a 25 ft. hose out the other side to the rear of my trailer where it attaches with a quick disconnect to the right hand side of the dual filter you see pictured to the right.

The dual filter, purchased from rv water filters, rv water regulators, rv water pumps, rv water softeners, rv water hose, has a clear canister with a SED 1 which filters the water down to 1 micron and has a flow rate of 3-4 gpm. Water then flows into the second canister which contains a CBC-KDF filter. This filters for taste, odor, chemicals, cysts and is a bacteriostatic filter. I hang the bracket off my back bumper. A quick disconnect attaches to a 5 ft. hose off the left hand side to the water inlet on my trailer.

Sure it is overkill but you should have seen how rusty/nasty the water was at the last campground I stayed. I don't drink the water but I do wash dishes, shower and brush my teeth with it. I usually carry a 2.5 gallon container of water from home to drink when necessary. Hope this gives you some sources for systems. I could get away with just the dual canister unit but this has worked just fine.

craigs 2 filters (in 3 stages) is a pretty good set up and very common in the big mohos now.

the 2 stage unit is outside and then another filter is located near the drinking source.

the advantage to having the main filter outside, is that it can be used while filling the tank

or with shore water through the pipes...

most a/s from the late 70s on have had under sink or in the fixture carbon filters...

so it depends some on your kitchen fixture.

if installing new kitchen fixtures,

moen and others have carbon filters IN the tap for drinking water.

or a separate line/tap can be plumbed to the counter with a 'everpure' type unit.

since i've got a moen carbon filter at the tap my outside filter is this one...

the ceramic element is important for microbes and sediment while the kdf internals add another layer of filter...

i do drink the tap water and it taste great.
