We are still gauge stupid!

We are full-timers for the past yr and a half and of course gauges do not work well for the grey and black tanks. I believe Tank 1 is grey..spouse says other..it is black. So Tank 1 is black/grey and tank 2 is black/grey. Which is it...not clear in the manual..this is a 1999 Excella 28' and as you read YES we are still learning. Been safe thanks to you guys.

Recently we have stopped for 4 months and major flushed the black tank and a gauge started to work. Tank 2.

So which is it?

Thanks again guys..think you have saved our lives a time or two.

If gauge calibration is an issue check out the current Spring issue of Airstream Life. Most understandable and detailed article on Guage Callibration I have read.

Are you trying to figure out if tank 1 or 2 is your black tank? If so, hook into a sewer using your 4" sewer hose. Open tank 1 gate. Put a garden hose into the toilet. Run some water. If you can hear water running thru the sewer hose - tank 1 is black. If no noise. Turn off the garden hose. Close tank 1. When u open the tank 2 gate u should hear tank 2 drain- which is the black tank.

Seems simple. Am I missing something?
