Waste Hookup to a Y- or T shaped sewer line

I'm parked in a spot where the ground sewer pipe is too high. The owner has installed a lower t-pipe for me to hook up my septic. Is this going to work? I thought my sewer lines should empty straight down, not sideways into the pipe. I can just see it blowing off. hmmm Duct tape?? I was going to sit here a couple of months and sure want to be set up securely. Any ideas?

It may not be optimum but it should be OK - if I have what you describe pictured right.
Duct tape is OK for a short time but sun rots it pretty quick. I'd probably back the tape up with a strap of some sort.

Even if you are hooked to a sewer line you need to keep your valves closed (especially the black tank) and only dump when the tank is near full. If you leave the black tank valve open the solids will not be washed out of the tank leaving a condition in the tank called the "Black Hills"

The solution is a 5 gallon bucket of water a few times down the toilet and let it soak...

jason, that might work but i've never had black hills with 5 gallons or room left in the tank!

most solutions end up being messy. they are a few tricks to try such as the hot water. you can try filling the slinky with water with the sewer end elevated to try to put pressure into the tank to push the hills back. you will probably end up wearing some of the output if the tank clears.

you can buy a cap with a hose fitting on it to blow some water back into the black tank. you just have to be very careful not to blow up the tank or creating a black hills fountain in the trailer. those situations are undesirable.

Ricky, How small is your black tank? I can get about 15 gals in mine. That must be some really big black hills if you can't fit any water in the tank!!!!!!!!!! wooooooow

The key is prevention. Dump3-5 gallons of water in the black tank PRIOR to use. This allows the solids to float around and spread out...so to speak...

I always start with water and blue solution, but it wasn't emptying very well. So, those hills were forming.

We were able to get a garden hose through the back hatch, and through the cupboard under the bathroom sink and spray the hills. Actually my son did that. It cleaned out quite nicely. If that's possible. If anything with black hills can be nice.

An ounce of prevention... as they say, but sometimes there's problems. Especially when you're parked long-term. First, you don't get the rocking of the tank when you're traveling and then, sometimes, that tank valve doesn't get completely shut...

Best not to use harsh chemicals but a mixture of vinegar and baking soda will effectively clean the hoses and will not damage the o-rings etc. Additionally, you can do fill the tank as well then rinse. White vinegar I cup once a week helps neutralize the odors.

Me, I would invest in the Sewer Solution and run it wherever you need to.

I also only dump when the tank is near full and my wife and I flush generously when we have full hookups.

Never start with an empty tank. Add some water before use.

As far as keeping the hose fitting in the park pipe, I use a pair of tube sox and some fine gravel. Take one sock, fill it with gravel secure it with a cable tie, then shove it into the other sock, cable tie first, secure again. The result is a very floppy "sandbag" that conforms to the shape, and doesn't budge.
