Valterra Valve question

This is my first time using a Valterra valve.

I am adapting it to a flat plate and have a leak. I assembled the valve with the supplied gasket and a valterra Tee and it still leaks. The leak occurs between the gate and the valve body.

This doesn't seem right -- or do I have to have Valterra gaskets on both sides to get it to seat properly.

Thanks in advance,
