Valterra to Thetford connection

I'd like to use a Valterra waste tank flush device, however the sewer line connection is a different size that the Thetfords used on Airstreams. I was at CW last night and asked if there was a device to make a Thetford to Valterra connection and was told "no". I find this hard to believe. How would one use a flush king or similar device without some sort of connector?

IF there is such a thing, anyone know where I could pick one up?

Thanks,

Craig

There most certainly is, and I bought one so I could attach my "sewer solution". Its in the CW catalog, too. let me see if I can find it...I think its called a "universal adapter"..something like that

Ok, I'm back. Didn't find it in the CW catalog; (odd, because I've seen it there before). But did a quick google search. here's one place you can get it.

http://www.campersdirect.com/mediaca...c=680&sc=15976

looks like you might be able to buy it direct from Valterra, too. its on this page, and they list a price...

http://www.valterra.com/RV/term_assemblies.htm

I picked mine up at my local rinky-dink trailer supply store. they don't have much...but they had this thing.

I bought one from camping world too. I got it a couple of years ago.

The last few times I was there I wanted to get another for a spare and found that I could not find it anymore.

Also, it is not in their latest print catalog either.

I hope they are not discontinuing them.

Better by a couple while you can....

Sorry to revive this old thread again, but has anyone seen any of these adaptors around recently? I have a Thetford 01447 on my '65 Overlander, and would like to hook up a sewer hose.......(this weekend!)

You can usually find these adapters at larger RV parts suppliers...here's one a CW:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...e-adapter/4180

Places like Vintage Trailer Supply also have these adapters...I bought mine at a local RV dealer parts counter...call around your area.

I am glad this thread popped up. I have a Thetford connector, but want to use my Flush King and was wondering if there was a Thetford to Valterra adaptor.

The Valterra part number is T05-2285VP and lists for $5.76 on Valterra's Internet site.

It is all the way at the bottom of this page...

http://www.valterra.com/RV/rv-main.htm

And here is the new link to the one offered by Camping World...

Well, no luck yet. I bought a Valterra "Universal Adapter (part number T05-2285VP), and it is way to big for my Thetford 01447. The RV store didn't have any other ideas either. Anyone else have any???

Try Vintage Trailer Supply. I got one there last month to fit my 76 Sovereign. Works to connect to the standard sewer hose I got at Camping World. PM Balrgn here on the Forum if you are still confused. He helped me find what I needed.

Hmmm. Thanks for the reply, buy there may be something different about my trailer. If the part you are referring to on Vintage Trailer Supply's site looks like this and is Valterra part number T05-2285VP, I just bought one at my local RV store, and it is too big.

Aistream 65,
Well that's wierd. Neither a Valtera or a Thetford connector mates up to sewer pipe??? I do not know of another type of connection.

I do not know that it would help, but can you post pictures of it???

I don't want to hijack this thread, but it does relate to the current status of my dump valve on my 71 I need to replace. Should I go with Thetford or Valtera?

OK, that's unlike any I have seen - maybe my adaptor is not the one you need.

The one I have stated on the package is thetford to valterra adaptor.

Lumatic,
Since everything in the modern RV world seems to be Valterra, I would lean that way. Just easier all around, especially if you need replacement parts later on. Just my $0.02.

Airstream 65,
That is like no other RV sewer pipe I have seen. From the picture, it looks like the flare at the end of the pipe goes all the way around. Was this at a permanent site? I am thinking maybe the flexible sewer hose was put over the flange and held on with a hose clamp.

This might work as a stop gap until you decide what you want to do. Measure the outside diameter of the pipe and head to the plumbing department of your favorite home improvement mega-wharehouse and look for a Fernco Coupling like this...

Then go to your favorite RV store and get a Valterra bayonet fitting similar to this one. I know it is threaded on one end and has a nipple to secure a cap, but you should be able to make it work with the Fernco Coupling.

I know this is not an ideal permanent solution, but it should allow you to at least use a Valterra sewer connection and dump your tanks until you can replace that "unique" sewer pipe.
