Thanks Doug.

I'll check our local stores. At least now I know what to look for.

Thanks:

Tim I just checked the piece. I got it out of a box of parts I have here. It's not a 3" cleanout, it's the piece that scews on a blue tank that the hose fits onto. They usually are white and you should be able to get them at any trailer store. The 3" cleanout will work but the hole in the tank would have to be bigger. Right now the piece I used fits the brass ring that is left in the tank.

Well, now I'm slightly confused again

Do you have a photo of it? Are you going to fiberglass it in place?

When I was at Camping World and asked for the closet flange I got a blank stare. Then asked, uh.. what kind of toilet do you have again?

Tim, this is the piece you can use. It's the part that screws to the blue tank and a dump hose fits on it. The one I used happens to be black so I thought it was a 3" cleanout.
I also think I will hook up a water connection to the tank to help flush it out as it is very flat. The new tailers have such a connection.

Hey Tim, bring your trailer up here, we'll work them out together. I'll make room in the yard for you.
Not sure where you are but it's only 2500 miles from San Francisco.

Wow Doug!

You got a regular assembly line going there. Thanks for the offer but that is a little far for me!

Thanks for the pics too!

Finally have fittings!

OK, after much searching I found what is called a Tank Inlet Fitting for $5.50 at Dryers RV Supplies. I ordered two of them. One for the toilet and another for the valve connection. I also ordered a 1.5 inch flange slip fitting for a tank vent I will have to add.

So here are the pictures to chronicle the fiberglassing, which I had never done before.

This first photo shows me tracing the flitting so I can enlarge the hole to 3".

Yes it fits! The orginal metal flange that I ground out had small holes in the flange area to accept resin. I drilled four small holes on the perimeter of the flange to copy that.

Here is the fiberglass repair kit I got at a local auto store for $18. I also used my palm sander with 80 grit paper to clean the areas back to bare fiberglass.

After mixing the resin with the hardner from the kit, I brushed some of the solution over the sanded area.

I put the fitting in place, then brushed some more resin on and around it.

After cutting the cloth that came in the kit to 1" by 6" strips, I soaked them in the resin then laid them out over the edge of the fitting. I applied two coats of of cloth all the way around.

Next I pushed the air pockets out with the little plastic tool that came in the kit.
