Tank vent from side of tank?

Admit up front that this is probably a ridiculous thought, but trying to figure out a way to vent our black water tank from a location other than the top. Is it plausible to put the vent on one of the sides as near the top of that side as possible? Plausible and not a good idea are two different things but wondering if anyone has ever done this.

I’ve never done it. You could do it. Any opening high in the tank would vent, but would reduce capacity of the tank. Also if you have very much horizontal run before you go vertical you run the risk of the vent getting clogged either from an over full tank or while underway with contents in the tank splashing around. Plausible yes, a good idea you have to decide that.
