T-Handle Question

Hi folks- Newbie question here. The T-handle for the black water tank valve is located on the rear of the trailer just above the drain pipe. Here's the thing- it doesn't pull straight out. The T-handle is a screw (approx. 1/4") which loosens and tightens just like a regular threaded machine screw.

Is this a retrofit of some sort?
Thanks,
Todd

This is an extension of the gate rod. It is as designed. They are made so that you can add any length necessary for operation. Yes they do come lose I would recommend using "Blue Loctight" to keep it from working loose.

On my 71 the connection between the gate rod and the T Handle is a loosely fitted pinned connection.

Welcome Bassfiddler! It's good to have you with us.
If you did'nt get the gist of the replies so far, the answer is that the "T" handle does pull straight up to open the gate valve. Yours may be stuck closed. before you pull hard on it make sure the handle is screwed in all the way, so you don't pull out the threads from the gate.
Good luck, Rich
