Single Waste Tank Question

Looking at late model Airstreams and find a 28' 2004 Safari that has only one waste tank. The only down side I can think of would be in extended boondocking where you would drain grey water(which we wouldn't be doing). Are there any other problems with this set up that I should steer clear of? Any particular advantages? Thanks for any advice.

There are NO advantages to this set up.. Were I to buy one of the models with only one tank the first project would be to remedy the situation. When boondocking it is totally unacceptable and unless you have sewer hookups it will mean more trips to the dump station.

I suspect this was a cost savings idea but I see it as a serious mistake

We were actually better off in the pre gray tank days (72 or so) because at least it was plumbed to bypass the black tank and could be handled seperately from the sewage t which can not be done with the single tank set up

I have talked with one person who had this set up (2004 International). They hated it and had it retrofitted.

If I remember correctly, the problems with the combo tank involved the "no fuss flush" system not being able to keep the water jets clean or adequately clean a 80 gallon tank. Also it took forever at the dump station and oftentimes they would still end up leaving with a hose not as clean as they would have liked.

To me it would be a deal buster. I think Airstream only made this one year. What were they thinking?
