Sewer Hose Adapter

We have a 1999 Classic Excella 31' trailer. The sewer hose adapter is a different size (bigger) than the normal ones. Where can you get the bigger size and how can you tell if it's the right one if you order on line. They all say they're for 3" hoses but this one has a bigger hook up to the trailer size.

I am pretty sure you have a Thetford outlet on your trailer. You can find the larger ones at Camping World but I don't know the name brand you will need to ask for when you place your order or do a search.

PM Balgrn and ask him. He got mine for me since I could never find one big enough to fit my 78 Argosy. He can probably give you the store name. I'm sure he's going to put a hit out on me for telling everyone to ask him, but he's a wealth of information.

I got one from a dealer on EBAY by the screen name of SYMME. You can do a search in EBAY and send him a private message. The cost with shipping was less than $10 and was a VALTERRA product made to adapt Thetford to modern standard sewer lines. Good quality, he had a few - like a fool I only bought one.

I just checked - he is still in operation and is selling lots of RV supplies. he may be a commercial dealer.

I am resurrecting this thread. My Blueline Hose Adapter is a very very tight fit. Do I also have a Thetford system on my 1990 Excella? I assume Airstream no longer uses Thetford (Valterra now), but I cannot find any thread that talks about when this switched over (away from Thetford). Thanks! Tim

Airstream uses either Valterra or Thetford based on the trailer model. Rhyme/reason? Don't know. Valterra makes the adapter to convert available from Camping World.

Classics get the Thetford, Safaris get the Valterra. I don't know which the International/DWR/CCD's get.

the switch times were mixed by models...

by late 2005 ALL the domestic trailer models (classic, safari, international) were valterra...

details in this thread post 30 onward...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f444...tml#post311001

the universal adapters (thet=<>=<>=valt) are widely available, with links2vendors noted in thread.

cheers

Thanks for the clarification 2air, I thought they were still putting the Thetfords on the Classics. I know my Safari ('06) has the Valtera. The Thetford is probably the higher quality from popular opinion on this forum... I don't have any other basis for comparison. I just know it is easier to walk into Wal-Mart and pick up a sewer hose or coupler and not have to worry if it will fit or about keeping an adapter for a Thetford on hand.

I got the Universal connector from Vintage Trailer supply for my 76 Sovereign. Worked perfectly.

There are basicly two sizes. The one that Thetford has, which is normaly white. And then there is the Valterra one which is normaly black. They are both concidered 3 inch.

Here is the Thetford one.

Here is the Valterra one.

Here is the Univerial Adapter.

The Univerial Adapter is what will allow you take the Thetford (white) fittings and convert to the Valterra (black) .
