Angry Sewer Flush System blocked...

Hi everybody,

Our 25' CCD is equipped with an internal sewer flush system to clean out the black tank, but recently we've had a problem with it.

Last year, when the trailer was brand new, the flush system worked great. I would just hook up a hose and let it do its thing. We then winterized it and (of course) didn't use it all winter.

This season, after we dewinterized the unit and it came time for the first black tank flush of the season. I hooked up a hose, turned on the water, and...

Nothing.

It's totally blocked. Not even a trickle. I've tried it a number of times now and it's always the same.

Has anybody else suffered this experience?

I intend on getting flexable black tank cleaning wand to hose it down from the inside, but does anybody have any other suggestions?

Sounds like the outlets in the black tank are blocked. Fill the black tank with fresh water and pour in a bottle of enzyme waste digester. Let it sit for several days and dump. Everything should be back in order after the flush.

Ice

I've heard of people putting in ice cubes in the black tank, while hooked up, and then once inserted, drive around. The ice is the agitator and will mix thanks up pretty well, then let it melt, fill it up, and dump. Worth a try.

Maybe you could try to run something down from the outside. I would have to look at mine to see if you could get some kind of a fish tape through there. Mine is still working fine. So far.

Good Luck

got good pressure on your water system?

perhaps you could hook it up and let it sit for a couple of hours with the water on, stay nearby if it unclogs. maybe the obstruction will free itself, the pipe feeding it runs upward twards the ceiling thru a vacuum breaker then down to the black tank.

mine is hiding behind a curved moulding in the bathroom, it runs the verticle length of the wall. if your is like mine, you could access at least the vacuum breaker and see if it is stuck.

I'd try John's suggestion about checking the vacuum break. Mine also has a check valve at the same location as the vacuum break valve. It could be stuck as well, Mine is accessed by removing the slidout pantry and one or two of the drawers. It is fastened to the exterior wall and can be replaced if necessary. At the very least you can determine if the problem is there or in the tank. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, they're great ideas.
As soon as we get a chance to go back to the campground I'll try them.

What about the snake, anyone tried that?

Is it worth me ordering one from camping world?

Also, does anybody have any recommendations on a specific enzyme waste digester? Which brand seems to work the best? We looked at the Camping World catalog, and are a little lost...

Still no good...

We tried marinating the black tank with enzyme waste solution for a week, as per markjoandall's suggestion, but to no avail... The flush system is still blocked 100%!

...checking the Vaccum Breaker is next.

If anyone has more specifics on how to go about this in a CCD please chime in.

Thanx JohnHD for the tip

Experience has taught me that the internal flush system does not work all that well.

We purchased a Flush King a few months ago ... works great. We thought the internal system was cleaning the tank just fine ... until we hooked up the Flush King for a super duper ream out.

Heh heh (joke) but woks . A 1/4 stick of dynamite would definately clear the obstruction.
