septic connection

I was recently on the vintage trailer supply website, trying to figure out what connectors i need for my 62 airstream overlander 26' trailer. Turns out i need a bunch of parts to get things to fit from vintage to modern septic conneters. Before I get started i need to take a section of the belly pan panels off so i can see what needs to be done. How do i take apart the rivets and not damage them so I can reuse them when it comes time to put them back into place. What have I got myself into just need some much needed advice thanks.

You cannot reuse the rivets. You must drill them out and replace with new rivets when reinstalling the belly pan.

Are the tub and sink drain pipes going around the fiberglass waste tank or are they going into the waste tank, just was wondering.

If your trailer has the original sewer connections installed, all it should take is a simple adapter to connect newer sewer line hose to your trailer. Before you take anything apart, investigate a Thetford to Valterra adapter.

Older trailer like yours and mine don't have a gray tank. The drain lines from the sink and the shower connect downstream of the dump valve. Back in the day, no one cared what you did with gray water. Now we have to use a portable tank or add a gray tank to the trailer.

Good luck.

What size drill bit do i need to drill out the old rivets, so I don't make the hole bigger. Also should i use aluminum rivets so it won't rust or steel.Once i put it all back together. Thanks

Get Olympic rivets from vintagetrailersupply.com or Out Of Doors Mart. Regular home center ones will leak water

For repair work a 1/8" drill and 5/32" rivet will work. There are specialized tools that are worth having if you are working on a large area.

If doing a few panels, getting a pneumatic pop-river gun is good idea
