PVC Hose Storage Carrier

I want to install one of the PVC Hose Storage units under my 2004 CCD Intl.

I thought that a good place to mount it would be between the Grey, and Black water storage tanks because of the access to the frame. But, if I mount it to the frame, that removes the access to the spot dedicated for the jack.

If anyone else has mounted one, could you please let me know how you secured it to the bottom of your Airstream?

Thanks,

Tom

I just installed one on our 28' CCD. It's mounted behind the black water tank.

I wasn't thrilled with the 4 sheet metal screws that were included so I fashioned 2 brackets out of 1/8" X 1" aluminum stock (Ace Hardware) and attached them with the existing bolts that mount the black water tank. They are "L" shaped with a little thing on top that I drilled a 1/2" hole for mounting.

I then used some wire ties to secure the carrier to the brackets.

(I'll get a picture and post it when it quits raining )

Definitely helps. Thanks for the picture. It does not look like you mounted it to the frame. Is it screwed into the Aluminum sheet on the bottom of the trailer?

Thanks,

Tom

Correct.

The screws are just in the underbelly. That's why I built the brackets. I couldn't hit the frame where I wanted to mount the carrier.

So is this your fresh water tank hose storage location? What about all the road dust and grime that kicks up behind the wheels? Do you have a hose cap to keep it clean? Seems like rocks and such would be kicked up to possibly damage the reel and hose. How long is your hose? (Boy do I have a lot of questions! Can you tell I'm a Newbie? I'm always learning on these forums.... so bear with me!

I think the hose being stored in the tube is the black and grey water dump hose.

Jordandvm,
dschuchfc is correct. This holds the sewer hose. I have a 6' carrier that is long enough to keep 2 of the 10' expandable slinky hoses attached. So I have up to 20' of sewer hose available. It also isolates the hose from getting 'crap' on the stuff I keep in the rear bumper strorage area.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOh. Well, I've learned a new one then! My wife said I shouldn't store the Black/grey water hose in the same location as the fresh water hose (in the bumper storage)! Duuuuuuuuuh!

The PO of my Airstream mounted the PVC storage tube forward of the axles and roughly forward of the dinette. My only concern is what would happen if it encountered an obstruction and got torn off. Would it take part of the belly pan with it?

Cosmotini,

On your 6' carrier, do you have to reach in up to your elbow to get the hose? I know that you can open both ends, but I wanted to keep some of my connection hardware in there as well, and was concernced about not being able to reach them.

thanks,

Tom

I just used the sheet metal screws to attach mine to the aluminum underbelly. It's held just fine for over 10,000 miles. Nothing, but nothing goes in there except the sewer hose. I highly recommend disposable latex gloves be worn during the whole dumping process.

That hasn't been a problem because with 2 hoses, they don't really want to go back to their compressed shape and I kind of have to squish them in or they pop out like a jack in the box. I only keep the hoses and the connector in there.

RAINING? Is this a new Airstream term? Living in central AZ we haven't seen much of the stuff. Actually I think RAIN really exist only in the imagination of AirStreamers who are tired of working on their A/S's.
