Permanent install new owner. Sovereign 1984 31'

Hello! I am looking for any tips on separating the grey water from black water. I see there is a common pipe for dumping both. I would love to attach the black water to an existing septic on our property and make a drain field with the grey. Thanks in advance for any tips! New to aistreams but already in love with ours!

If you have an existing septic system, won't it dump the grey onto the septic system's own drain field?

Even if you hook directly to the septic you should not keep the dump valve permanently open. There is not enough water dispensed with each flush of an airstream to keep the black water tank from building up a pile. Keep the valve closed and open every other day. Depending on the year of the trailer it might not be possible to easily separate the gray water dump from the black water. Having the gray water go in the septic is pretty common for most houses. Why not trailers with unlimited flow.

For more-or-less stationary use, leave the grey tank valve open, and dump the black tank a couple of times a week. You can get a cap with a "garden hose" fitting on it, so you can run the grey water to your drain field, then switch caps to the regular slinky to dump the black water.
