Oversized Thetford dump valve connector

My 66 Trade Wind has a white thetford female connector with the ears on the dump valve that accepts the hooks on the hose connector. The one that fits is oversized from the standard thetfords! It is oversized by the width of the hooks on each size!

Is this common and where do I get the oversized fitting? Am I destined to replace the connector? Glenn

I'm not sure what you mean by oversized but I remember having trouble with this when I purcahsed my trailer.

It seems the current standard for sewer hoses is the valterra connection. Where AS uses the Thetford. Which is your white connection.

So you will need a Thetford to Valtera adapter availble at most RV suppy stores. This way you can buy hoses and connections with the valtera fittings and everything will work fine.

I hope this is what you needed. If not, someone will be along soon to correct me!

Good luck.

Tim is correct as I have the same issue. Saw a new Bambi at Region One Rally yesterday. It has Velterra dump fittings. The Safari that was there has Thetford. As if things weren't hard enough.
Try this place for Thetford fittings.

The Thetford costs more, but the quality and operability of their product is head and shoulders above the Valterra stuff. I was at first dismayed when I had to buy a new, expensive hose fitting for my Classic. After using the Thetford fitting for a while, I am quite glad that Airstream used that product. The dump fitting goes on and off effortlessly where the Valterra fitting on my previous Airstream would jam and taxed the streangth of my arthritic hands.

John,

Where do you get a sewer hose with a Thetford fitting? Everywhere I look, which is basically camping world only stocks Valterra.

That's why I went with the Thetford to Valterra adapter.

Tim,
I too have been playing the sewer house adapter game, and I have a real tight fit on the '66. I just went to the Dyer's RV link that Over59 posted, and they have the fittings that fit the Thetford. You supply the generic RV sewer hose. Gonna order one here in a minute.

The only Airstream trailers that use the Valterra are the Safari models.
