Onerous Task Less Onerous

For those of you who've followed my posting on the Drainmaster system, here are a couple of shots of the installed product on SilverLeaf. Notice the really classy drain unit...which has a clear section AND a valve at the termination point. You'll also note that I have added two Barker electric valves to open and close the black and gray tanks from INSIDE the trailer. Photo is of the Black toggle switch (there's also one for the Gray -- suitably marked). You push the switch --which I installed in a convenient cabinet to open the valve. When the valve is fully open a red light flashes .... a good reminder that if that red light is a flashin' you better close it before you're sorry! None of us particularly enjoy this very necessary part of Airstreaming. (Oh, I also will have the manual valve handles close at hand in case I ever have electrical failure and need to dump.)

Very creative! Does the hose stay attached to the tank and ride in storage somewhere or do you still have to don the gloves and attach for each dumping?

Check the drainmaster website for pricing data (I added an extra length of hose and an adapter that would let me use their cam system but adapt to the Valterra if I had to). And, yes, the hose fits in the bumper compartment. The Barker valves are available online or at CW. One is for the 1 1/2 inch (gray), the other is a 3" (black)....around $130 each. Also had to buy wiring to install switches inside the trailer...so to make the onerous task less onerous I probably $700. Not counting my labor which is VERY high.
