New 2015 airstream leak? Which tank?

We just noticed a drip leak from our tanks. What do you think is going on?

Just from my experiences with the plumbing on RV's (I have no particular knowledge of '15 Airstreams) I would say it is most likely to be a leak at one of the valves or their fittings.

It is a warrantee issue covered for the first two years by Airstream. Let them figure it out. Cost is included in the purchase price.

Looks like the 2015s have redesigned plumbing with exposed pipes and valves vs my 2008 25fb Classic.

Looking at the first photo I'm thinking that is the black tank and where the large pipe enters the casing there is water on the below and running aft. I'm guessing where the pipe exits the tank is where the failure is.

It appears on your 25, Airstream has redesigned the layout of the tanks. On my 2008 Classic 25 from front to aft is the black which goes along the width of the trailer then gray next to it and finally water which is over the axles and slightly behind.

Yours looks like the waste tanks are side by side along the width with the water tank forward of the axles. The grey tank pipe exits the rear and curves around to join the common pipe from the black.

If you fill the black tank with water to where its mostly full does the leak get worse.

Looks like you will need to take it into the dealer. Maybe they can fix the leak without having to drop all the tanks since both seem to be enclosed in a common aluminum shell.

I had a similar situation and discovered the leak was coming from the shower area; a loose fitting to the P-trap. The leak had worked its way down to the outside. I thought I had a tank leak.

I was able to gain access to the P-trap by removing the furnace vent and reaching in to tighten the fitting.

So all three P-traps in the trailer now get a regular inspection.

Could be anything. As noted you can get it fixed under warranty. If you want to chase it yourself, try to find where it's coming from. Lots of tricks to use. You can try putting cardboard down to see exactly where the drip is landing. You can blow or brush talc or flour on the plumbing to make it more obvious what's getting wet.

Loose clamps are common problems, even if tightened properly at the factory, the hoses are susceptible to enough cold flow that the clamps become loose.

We drove all the way to lakewood, NJ from Manheim PA. A 272 mile round trip. I had sent Colonial photos of the leak and they advised us to bring it in. Sure no problem. Turns out they could not find anything wrong and it was dry when we got there. They speculate that the tank enclosure is not waterproof and that rain water may have accumulated and then dripped out. Okay then.

What a waste of time and money! Before we went there, I asked them if there wasn't a way to get it checked by someone else nearby. They said usually not, but they gave me a phone number to call at Airstream. I called and talked to a fellow there who said they don't usually do something like that but if we got an estimate from another dealer preapproved by Airstream that maybe something could be done. I told him I wasn't interested in going through all that and I practically hung up on him.

I'm starting to think I should have bought a SOB from a local dealer.
