Need to install a new black water tank Help...

I need to install a new black water tank and have the plywood floor open and going to replace it as well. I want to slightly reconfigure the rear bath in my 68 sovereign. Can I use any tank that will fit in the opening and if so how do I determine it the closet flange lines up where I want to install the toilet, or do you cut and install the flange into the new tanks where you want it. I am confused and new at this.

You can buy a roto-molded tank and use a grommet that you can locate yourself in the top of the tank for the toilet connection.

I curious how you are going to "slightly" reconfigure the bath... the integrated baths in the '67 and '68s are pretty much take'um as you get'um. Perhaps you can post a sketch.

We have replacement black water tanks for a 68, made with fiberglass, which is far superior to a molded plastic tank.

I seen you have the direct replacement for the 68 but are you able to cut the holes in order to move the toilet over some or are they factory precut?

The outlet is fixed.

We left the top of the tank blank, since there was some differences between California and Ohio trailers.

Simply cut the holes and glass in the vent and floor flange fittings to match your trailer.

Does the tank bolt to the bottom of the floor? Mine had fallen out onto the road on the way home the day of purchase so I was unable to see how it was mounted. I just finished installing the new floor today and now I need to buy a tank and start the installation.

It sits in a galvanized steel box that is fitted with a rather elaborate system of sloping styrofoam to support it. I take it you are missing all of it.

I replace the original tank in my '67 with a rotomolded tank for Amerikart (purchased from PPL RV). If you check out my blog I have some picts.

The tank sits on top of stryrofoam, which sits in a galvanized pan.

Our tank for your 68 is made with fiberglass, not plastic.

With a fiberglass tank, you can easily cut holes any where you wish, and simply glass the fittings in place.

With a plastic tank, you can easily cut holes in it too, but to fuse the fittings in place, you must do so with plastic welding or spin them in place at a very high speed of several thousand RPM, so the the friction of the two plastics cause it to rapidly heat and melt, which fuses the fittings in place, on the tank.

#91324 is the correct tank for your 66-22 foot Airstream.
