I've been searching the internet for any and all options to purchase a macerator for my waste system redo. I can buy a "plain" macerator for $150 +/- ... I can get macerator "kits" with various necessary and unnecessary parts for between $240 and $600. All of the necessary parts required, I have found available to be purchased separately except the piece that connects the macerator inlet to the 3" Valterra valve outlet. When I do the math it seems that I am paying way too much for this connector fitting included in the kits.
Anybody know where I could purchase such a fitting? ...any other ideas?
See attached pictures for reference. (the flojet plain.bmp is the macerator without any fittings)
If you go to Lowes, you can find a rubber adapter in the plumbing section that is a nice fit over the end of the macerator, and it also fits nicely over a standard 3" abs fitting. You can see a picture in my photo album. Going from the 3" ABS to a 3" Valterra is just a matter of glueing on the right (hub or spigot) type valve coupling.
In the photos, I reduce back down from 3" to 2" ABS because that is the size of my blackwater tank outlet.
I think "the sewer solution" just uses a high velocity water jet to "suck" the waste out. A macerator is pretty much just like the garbage disposal in your kitchen sink. It can grind up and pump the waste through a garden hose for a l-o-n-g distance.
Take a look at the cleandump site. They have some good info explaining what a macerator system can do.

Steve
Save yourself the hassle of gluing the parts together and buy the kit from Flojet. I recently bought the Flojet Model 18555-000 Portable RV Waste Pump Self-Priming Macerator on E-Bay for $170.00 plus $16.95 shipping. The kit came with the macerator, a remote handheld switch and 6’ wire, a hose connection to back flush the system, a hose connection to run the waste to a sewer connection, and a case to store everything. It’s compact and has no leaks.

Sounds like you got a good price... I have not seen them that cheap. More like $220 with shipping. Even at your price, it seems like I end up paying $40 for an $8 part.
Thanks for the input... I'm still weighing my options.
steve, great link. i'm going to look into trying to do it similar to what they show in the diagram. my gray and black tank configuration will be almost exactly what they're showing. keep up posted on your decision, i'm curious to know which way you go.
