Lubricating a Thetford re-build

I'm in the process of assembling a re-built Thetford sewage dump valve, the one with the stainless back, and was wondering what the members might suggest using for assembly grease Vaseline etc. I really don't want to do this again!

I'd use silicone plumbers lubricant - one that contains NO petroleum (like vaseline does). Have fun....
