Leaky Black Water Release Valve

Our '59 Tradewind has a small drip from the black water tank when the valve is fully closed. Wondering if there is a replacement gasket or rubber seal, or do we have to take it to the shop????? Getting ready to hit the road in Jan, and would appreciate any help!!!

There are kits - one for your model becouse of the age may be an issue. It's not a difficult process of replacing the section and going all new from the valve body out to the hose connection.

Post a picture if possible. Many here would have more input if they can see the part needing repair. If the assembly is bolted together vice glued then you may be able to take it apart and clean the unit. If you can see (with caution) the gate valve from the drain end then check to see the groove it goes into is clean and clear of debris. Non-dissolving items like dental floss can cause a blockage that gets into the groove and allows leakage.

There is where I would start - a good cleaning. Next - there are aftermarked gate valves you can put on the hose connection that will allow you to camp and seal the tank for a while until you can get the original valve rebuilt.

There are 2 possible easy fix solutions:
1. Debris has gotten into the gasket groove on the gate valve. Clean it out with a toothbrush or something.
2. There is a threaded connection between the dump valve handle and the dump valve sometimes it will partially unscrew not allowing the valve to completely seat.

You can regift the toothbrush
