How to Protect Black and Grey Water Valves

Hey Everyone -


I'm looking into ways to proactively protect the black and grey water valves that are used to dump their respective internal tanks.

More specifically, it really bothers me with how low the valves ride even with my 15" wheels and lift kit. I'm thinking some type of frame which would protect the pipes against rocks and low points, but would not negatively impact the pipes or the AS frame.

I did a bunch of searching on the forum and online in general and haven't found anything just yet. I do plan on talking to my local dealer and AS proper to see what options they may have explored.

I'm thinking many of the folks here must have addressed this situation inn fashion.

I have never read or heard of anyone doing anything like you ask. I just try to be very aware of what is going on around that area. So far so good.

Prior to my Alaska trip, I split a section of white plastic pipe lengthwise in half and attached it to the black & gray drain pipe. It is thin enough to bend and I used duct tape to secure it to the smaller pipe. The wide end extended out just far enough to protect the valves for rocks & stones. Later I used reworked it foam padding and clamps and spray painted it black.
Also consider protecting the water drain valve and the propane gas lines with plastic or foam coverings. Not problems after 8+ years. Good Luck.
