how many gallons is blackwater tank on the 1978 airstream excella 31 foot?

i gotta dump my full blackwater tank and don't know how big a container I'm gonna need... anybody know how many gallons it has in it?

The black tank on my 1979 Safari is 15 gallons, yours is probably not much larger, if any.

Just dump into the receptacle you have and close the valve if it looks like you are going to overflow it. It may take a couple trips but you will then have an idea what the capacity is

And for those of you too lazy to go to post #31, here it is:
The specs state that, for a '78 Sovereign (31') center bath, capacities are 23 gallons main (Black), and 13 gallons aux (Gray).

For what it is worth, I measured (in a one gallon container and a five gallon bucket) how much fluid each tank took.

The main (black) tank took 30 gallons and the water level was lacking about 1/4" from being at the bottom of the toilet extension pipe, the shower pan quit taking fluid (gray tank) at 23 gallons.
Interesting to note that he measured slightly differently than the specs. Also to note is this is for a mid-bath model. If you have a rear bath one, it WILL be different.

I recommend his measurement method. Just 'cause.

1978 Airstream Ambassador Rear Bath Holding Tanks Capacities

Here is what I found in my manual, hopefully attachment came through, if not Fresh water tank is 50 Gallons, main (gray) Holding tank is 20 Gallons and auxiliary tank (black) 16 gallons
