Horrific Disaster Averted!

My wife has finally joined me down here in Florida at the campground. Well, she likes to use a lot of toilet paper. A few days ago, I came home from work, and she told me she thought the black tank was full. A peek inside the toilet bowl confirmed it was FULL. A trip to the rear of the trailer, and the black tank valve was opened. Nothing happened. I opened and closed the valve several times and still no dice. Great, I thought. I got out my handy tank washing wand and shoved it up waste pipe, while carefully holding the waste hose waiting for the avalanche. It never came. Nothing more than a few pieces of TP and some brown water, trickling out. I poked and prodded for an hour and made no progress. I really couldn't tell if the valve was broken or I had a blockage. The valve seemed to be open.

I gave up, and dumped a quart of RV digester bacteria stuff from Wally-World in and crossed my fingers. I let it set for 2 days, while we used the campground facilities. (A real pain at 4 AM).

Tonight, I decided to give it a go. The valve opened, the hose started shaking, and the tank emptied

So, if you think you may have a stuck or broken valve, or just a plain old blockage, try using some digester bacteria first, and let it set for a few days. It may just save you a huge repair bill, or worse yet a brown bath.

TMIrTP (too much info)regarding TP

Good tip Pick.
I will walk miles to avoid the dreaded "Brown Bath" even at 4:00 AM in a hail storm...

But I sure hope your "Much Better Half" doesn't read your posts or you may be in for alot of time over at the clubhouse at all hours.

run her around the block a few times?

hey pick

might be worth your while to fill the tank 1/2 full and take the trailer out for a little spin and dump the tank again.

what does the mrs. think of the trailer life?

John, she has only been down here since last weekend, but loves it so far. She has been couped up all winter in Ohio, so this is a welcome change.

We should be into our new house by next weekend, so we will be moving the A/S soon after that. (I'll be sure and dump in a few bags of ice for the trip home) There is a clean out for the septic system that I can use to dump the tank, that has easy access.
