Heated Tanks
Got down to 22 last night so I went to turn on the tanks and the blue light (in the bathroom) would not light up. I didn't know if the tanks were on or off. Light switch and fan switches work. Didn't turn on the water pump because there is nothing in it. Blue light went on when I first got the trailer. What's up?

Make sure the Firefly panel lights are on. I just tried ours with panel off and bathroom switch did not turn blue, turned on Firefly panel lights and bathroom switch turned blue.

Firefly
Okay, by "Firefly" I am assuming this is the panel next to the Alde panel. I don't see any way to turn it off. It always seems on to me 24/7?

You can't turn it off, but in settings you can dim it to virtually nothing.

Firefly
I tried dimming to the max to no avail. I think it's something else Bud. I'm going to the dealer today and I will give you an update. I also found your diagram for bleed points on the Alde system. Thanks!

On another note, does the 2016 classic have heated tanks or not? The owners manual does not say. Sometimes I wonder if the owners manual is as complete as it should be.

Wilbur, we have a 17, there is a push button on the control panel to turn the heaters on. If you don't have an on off button I'd suggest you do not have heaters. That said you have a furnace and if you open the cabinets doors under the hall closet you'll see a piece of Duc work pointed down into the tank area.

Hey Wilbur, I'm confused. Do you have a 16 or a 17 Classic? The Alde system was introduced on the 17's but you asked if 16's had tank heaters.

Service was closed on Saturday. Parts guy suggested it could be a fuse, but he wasn't sure.

Yes mine is a 2016 classic and I was just wondering about tank heaters. Thanks for the info on the piece of duct work.

For the buttons on the Firefly panel in the bath, if you hit the PANEL LIGHTS switch in the bedroom to turn off or dim the panel lights, Bath light buttons turn off also as does the panel next to the main door. The PANEL LIGHTS button is my last button at night and first button in morning routine. By the way, Blue light helps you wake up, or stay awake at night.
For the Fire Fly panel beside the Alde panel, push the Settings button on lower right corner to adjust screen brightness of just that panel. You can dial it down to dark, but will need a flashlight or sunlight to see the buttons ;-)

If your 16 has Alde heat, you have tank heaters. DC breakers are behind floor panel on right side under the Wardrobe doors. If the button breaker is popped out, you get one free reset, push in, to fix it yourself. My tank heaters seem to raise Temps about 5 degrees for tanks that stay about 20 degrees above outside Temps, even when in the 20's.

Some later 16's had Alde. Saw one in California in June 2016. Don't know if the Fire Fly was out at same time.

Thanks for that! I'm renovating an '80 Excela and considering Alde as my primary heat source for year round living in Utah. I've been f/t for 16 years and have tried every heat system known to man. How does the Alde heat the water vault and can it prevent the subfloor service pipe from freezing? Thanks in advance for your time.

Frey, if you read through the Much To Do About Alde thread, there are drawings, discussions, tweaks, and truth about the system. For heat, seems really simple, once you get the air purged and the burner tweaked for altitude. The 18 burners were supposed to have a fix, but as far as I can tell, they all have the same and different problems of the 17s . 18 added an in line on demand, but mixed the Fire Fly and Alde panels so much, haven't seen one happy customer on the forum yet. It was like that in 17 also. Then we all learned the hacks and most are satisfied. For water, there is 2.5 gallons up to 145 degrees to mix and manage for showers. Then wait 30 more minutes and another 2.5 gallons. No make up rate.
