hard plumbing Excella

Hello, finally figured out the new thread thing, I think.

You may consider this treason, but we are moving our 91 34' A.S. to a semi-permanent place in Bastrop, TX. It will be used as a "guest quarters" when other guests visit my sister's family-they are there most of the time now. We will use it several times during the year with plans to leave it in place when we build a home there. It is to become part of the family "compound" to a family of about 30. More log cabins will follow and maybe another Airstream.

Anyway, we want to hard plumb it. The grey water and black water will dump directly into the septic system now used by the home owners living there. No tank systems. We are assurred that it will work great but will mean the trailer is not usable as a travel trailer unless we re-plumb it later. No problem, we're not moving it.

MY QUESTION, in case anyone out there has done the same and might know. Do we need a residential potty??? Space is limited so we're hoping we don't need one and can just upgrade to a newer, taller RV potty. We can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone, even the plumber says, "You will probably need a residential potty".

THANKS!!!

If you remove your black tank you will need a residential toilet, the trailer toilet does not have enough water to keep lines flushed out.Now if you use the black tank and drain it when it near full, you can leave same toilet in it. Dave

Unless you are willing to pour a little deodorizer down with every flush, you'll most likely need a flush toilet. When you open the toilet valve you're likely to get a backwash of septic gas. If you intsall a J-trap in your dump line, you're still going to have some odor between the toilet and the trap.

Why do you think you have to take out or modify the tanks in any way? Just hook up to "street" water and plug your dump line into the septic. Leave the Airstream as-is.

Hi,

We are looking to do this on our property as well. Did it work out for you?

Thanks,
Alison
