Grey water PVC pipes leaking

I just discovered that the black PVC pipes leading to my grey water tank have a small leak. It is in the rear bath cabinet where there is a short stack of pipes with multiple joints. The one coming from the kitchen sink has a slight leak.

Since it would be a MAJOR task to disassemble the area, I just want to seal the pipe points. My first thought was black caulking (latex or sealant). Any recommendations on sealant?

I would try Amazing Goop. I've had good luck with it sealing leaks in plastic air conditioner drain pans and plastic water tanks.

I would use PVC glue, it will melt the pipes back together. That is what was used to assemble it in the first place.

You can grind up some black PVC pipe and mix it with some PVC glue (work quickly) and make a paste to brush on the leaking joints. Clean the joints as well as you can to begin with. I have also seen string and PVC glue used. Wrap the string on the joint and saturate with PVC glue. I like the paste better though.

The drain pipe from the kitchen sink leading to the gray water tank broke on our '83 Excella. There was enough "play" in the broken section that I was able to get a connection rubber sleeve assembly with a metal wrap and hose clamps at Lowe's. I was able to separate the broken ends enough to slide the sleeve onto the pipe, re-align the broken area, then slide the sleeve over the broken area and tighten the clamps.

Perhaps you can cut the pipe and then do such a repair, that is if the pipe can be separated enough to slide such a sleeve onto the pipe after you make the cut.

There are several sizes and types of sleeves. Some are a different size on each end and may work on a joint.

… or you could just use the correct cement. The pipe is not PVC it is ABS. Use ABS glue and it will fix the joint. (ABS cement is available at all the box stores)

How true, ABS is the black stuff. My mind slipped a cog when I repeated the OP PVC statement.

I don't have any cracked pipes. Mine is leaking at the fittings.

Turns out, I do have a can of PVC cement and a few extra PVC fittings that will sacrifice their life to be donors for the PVC shavings!

PVC glue will not work on ABS material.
There are some tapes out there specifically designed for wrapping pipes. Really sticky stuff.
Since there is no pressure in the drain line. The tape should work just fine.
If the joint is under stress. The glue job won't hold for long. The tape would have some flexibility.

I'll try the ABS cement first and see if that resolves it. Thanks!

Don't dump a bunch of goop on it then, fix the fitting. If you don't, it will just keep on leaking.
