Gray water tank?

Hi, I had assumed my 79' Sovereign rear bath 31' did not have a gray water tank, but after reading other post I'm now confused.

Does it have a gray water tank? If it does where is the drain hookup? I know where the black water tank drain is, are the connected somehow?

Yes you have a Grey Tank, all Airstreams since 1974 have them. It is connected to a common dump with the Black Tank, To drain it; hook up the Stinky Slinky and then pull the Black tank valve and let it drain. Then pull the dump valve for the Grey water (Wash Water) tank. Let it drain clean up the Slinky and your done.

Grey tank

I'm still having a little trouble figureing out the drain system, I can only find one drain valve located under the left rear bumper, I beleive this is the black tank, since the toilet appears to dump directly into it.
Just outside the drain valve, but inside the drain connection is an outlet about 2 1/2" that appears to be factory and bypasses the drain valve.
When you pour water into the sinks water comes out the bypass on the black tank drain.

On another note is there a spare mounted some where on this trailer? Whats left of my owners manual shows a spare mounted under the frame next to the tongue., but my belly pan is intact and its a complete unit with no doors or open sections.

The spare is an option you do not have. The previous owner may have eliminated the gray water tank the unit came with. Photos would help us to tell you. Otherwise, you might contact someone in the local WBCCI who could come out and help you. Or for money take it to the local RV dealer and they will help you do a checkup on the unit and make repairs as necessary.

What you need is a buddy to come over and show you the systems and how to use them. Maybe one of the many members in Tennessee will step forward. If not plan to go to a rally and do not be afraid to ask questions. You could also check to see if your local unit of the WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club International, The Airstream Club believe it or not) winter luncheons. Your questions are common to those of us who bought our first AS used without instructions.
